Q: Why Corinthian Marine Carpet and AquaMats™?
A: The team at Corinthian Marine has been involved in the design and manufacturing of marine carpet products since the late 80’s. In fact, we were the first to develop the AquaMat system for fiberglass boats. We have been around the industry for a long time – we have the most experience under our belts of any marine carpet aftermarket supplier. So while you cannot buy life vests, fishing poles or other gear from Corinthian Marine Carpet, you can be confident that when you talk to us about carpet, you are getting years of expertise. All of us are dedicated to what we do, which is making sure you get The Best Walk on Water.
Q: What are my options for replacing worn out marine carpet on my boat?
A: If the worn carpeting is glued to the boat floor, replacement will require tearing out the existing carpeting and installing the new carpet of a similar style and color.
Replacing a removable snap-in mat is easy. You may template the existing mat if it is in decent shape, make a new template from the boat floor (click here for our easy to follow template instructions) or select one from our template library. Corinthian will make an AquaMat™ custom fit boat mat to your exact specifications.
Q: What is the difference between Marine Carpet by the Foot and an AquaMat™ Custom Fit Boat mat?
A: Marine Carpet by the Foot is sold to replace carpet that has been glued to the boat floor. It is designed to be cut and installed with an adhesive directly to the surface. This carpet is easily moldable for the contours of a boat but is not suitable for binding or snap-in applications.
AquaMat™ Custom Fit Boat Mats are designed to lay on top of fiberglass liners usually held in place with snaps. They utilize our exclusive AquaLoc backing that provides strength and durability to the carpet as well as skid and slip resistance.
Q: What makes marine carpet different from standard residential carpet?
A: Marine carpet is designed to withstand the tough marine environment without fading or degrading. It is produced from solution dyed fibers enhanced with UV stabilizers that protect it from extreme sun, salt and moisture.
Q: How do I care for marine carpet?
A: Marine carpeting is easy to maintain. It requires occasional hosing off and vacuuming. Use standard high quality carpet cleaner to remove stubborn stains, always being careful to remove all cleaner residues with water.
Q: How do I clean AquaMat™ Custom Fit Boat mats?
A: Maintain the carpet face by hosing or vacuuming off. Use standard high quality carpet cleaner to remove stubborn stains, always being careful to remove all cleaner residues with water. An AquaMat should dry completely before storing. When storing, always roll your AquaMat carpet face out.
Q: How do I make a template for a custom AquaMat™?
A: Check out our template library to see if we have a template for your boat, or check out our easy to follow template instructions.
Q: How do I get samples of your marine carpet?
A: Browse our site for the styles and / or colors that best match your project. When you click on the shop now button, you may request a free sample. Complete the order with your contact information and we will send the samples you selected within the week.
Q: How do I know which marine carpet style to choose?
A: There are few limitations to the carpet style best suited for a boat. You will want to make sure you select the correct application, direct glue down, or snap in AquaMat. From there, it is up to your personal taste and budget. Be sure to monitor hatches and lids to be certain that the carpet pile or thickness will not be an issue.
Q: How do I measure to determine how much marine carpet I will need?
A: Measure the length and width of the area to be covered. Add additional for hull sides and locker areas.
